Trabzonspor target Ivorian youngster Abdoulaye Doumbia in €5m move

Ivory Coast midfielder Abdoulaye Doumbia is reportedly attracting a potential €5m move to Turkish club Trabzonspor following an impressive first senior season with Swedish side BK Häcken.

The 19-year-old has been monitored by Trabzonspor’s recruitment team since the summer, with reports in the Swedish press suggesting the club could make a bid during the January transfer window.

Doumbia, who joined Häcken from ASEC Mimosas’ Under-19 side in January 2026, has emerged as a promising young talent in Sweden’s Allsvenskan, recording two goals and three assists in 23 league appearances this season.

His performances have reportedly strengthened Trabzonspor’s interest as the Turkish club continues to pursue young players with the potential to develop into important first-team contributors.

Born in 2007, the Ivorian is a defensive midfielder whose qualities also allow him to operate in a box-to-box role, contributing to both defensive duties and attacking moves.

Trabzonspor are understood to be considering an investment in his long-term development, with the reported €5m valuation reflecting the club’s interest in securing his services before his reputation grows further.

Doumbia’s statistics this season provide an indication of his contribution at Häcken.

Across 23 Allsvenskan matches, he has scored twice and supplied three assists, accumulating 1,980 minutes on the pitch.

His overall record across all competitions stands at 24 appearances, two goals and three assists in 2,070 minutes.

The midfielder’s ability to contribute in several areas of the game has helped him attract attention beyond Sweden.

His defensive work, distribution and willingness to carry the ball forward have been identified as key aspects of his playing profile.

His performance against Degerfors offered another illustration of his involvement in the game. Doumbia registered 84 touches and completed 68 of his 73 passes, giving him a passing accuracy of about 93%.

He also recorded one key pass, completed one of two dribble attempts and recovered possession 12 times.

In addition, he won three of five duels and made one interception, alongside two other defensive contributions listed in his match statistics.

Those numbers underline the range of responsibilities he handles in midfield, where his work includes helping to regain possession and supporting the team’s progression with the ball.

Trabzonspor’s reported interest comes as the Ivorian continues to establish himself at senior level after moving from ASEC Mimosas’ youth setup to the Swedish club earlier this year.

The Turkish side is not the only club reportedly tracking his progress. FC Basel in Switzerland and French clubs Nice, Strasbourg and Rennes have also been linked with interest in the young midfielder.

Competition for his signature could therefore develop if the reported interest turns into formal approaches, although no completed transfer or official bid has been confirmed in the information available.

For Doumbia, the attention from clubs in several European leagues represents a significant development early in his senior career.

A possible move to Trabzonspor would provide a new challenge, while remaining at Häcken could offer further opportunities to gain experience and continue his development.

At 19, the Ivorian remains a young prospect, and Trabzonspor’s reported willingness to consider a substantial investment suggests the club sees potential in his future contribution.
