Trabzonspor coach Thomas Reis has described Mohamed Salah as a player without equal and backed the Egyptian forward to lead the Turkish club to European success this season following their 4-2 victory over Finnish side KuPS.
Salah impressed in the away match at the Tammelan Stadium in Tampere, contributing a goal and a decisive pass as Trabzonspor secured an important win in the UEFA Europa Conference League.
The German coach praised the Egypt captain’s influence on the team, highlighting his mentality, creativity and ability to make the difference in crucial moments.
Reis believes Salah’s competitive attitude could prove vital as Trabzonspor pursue their ambitions in Europe, insisting that players with the forward’s determination are essential for clubs seeking major honours.
“If you want to win championships, you need a competitive player like Mohamed Salah in your team. He will lead us to win the title this season, and I feel that through his performance. When you ask me about it, I will say that he has the mentality that drives us all at Trabzonspor.”
The coach also revealed that he had instructed his players to make Salah a central figure in their attacking play, encouraging them to find the Egyptian whenever an opportunity arose.
“I told the team that he is the key to playmaking, and that is why they must pass the ball to him wherever they find him. He decided the match for us today with one of the best passes, and with a goal that ended the match in our favor.”
Salah’s contribution against KuPS reinforced Reis’s belief that the forward possesses the quality to influence the outcome of matches. His goal and decisive pass helped Trabzonspor secure the victory, underlining the importance of his presence in the team’s attacking setup.
Reis explains what makes Salah special
The Trabzonspor manager continued to express his admiration for the Egyptian, pointing to the anticipation that surrounds his involvement whenever he receives possession.
“Every time he touches the ball, you know he’s going to do something special,”
Reis said, praising the forward’s ability to produce moments of quality that can give his team an advantage against their opponents.
The German coach also thanked Trabzonspor’s board and Salah for the decision that brought the player to the club, describing the move as something he appreciated.
“I am happy and grateful to the club’s board of directors, and to him personally as a player, for choosing this club to contribute to his career.”
For Reis, Salah’s performances have come as little surprise given what the Egyptian has already demonstrated at the highest level of European football.
The coach concluded by reiterating his admiration for the forward’s ability and consistency, pointing to his previous performances in one of Europe’s leading leagues.
“There is no player like him, and I am no longer surprised when he does anything perfectly, because I saw him dominate one of the best leagues in Europe”
His comments reflect the confidence Reis has placed in Salah as Trabzonspor seek to build on their victory and strengthen their pursuit of European silverware.
