Tottenham are advancing talks with Manchester City over a £60m deal for Brazilian winger Savinho, with the club confident the transfer can be completed before the summer window closes.
The proposed move would be a major addition to manager Roberto De Zerbi’s squad and would take Tottenham’s spending during the current transfer window to almost £300m. That would represent a record summer outlay in the club’s history.
Sources told Football Insider that negotiations between Tottenham and Manchester City are moving forward, while Savinho is understood to be keen to make the move to north London. A fee of £60m is believed to be sufficient to complete the transfer.
Tottenham have also reportedly agreed personal terms with the 22-year-old, according to the same source. A transfer podcast published by Football Insider said all parties were confident an agreement would be reached before the end of the summer transfer window.
Savinho has been on Tottenham’s radar for more than 12 months. Their attempts to sign him were blocked by Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola last summer, when the player was told he would form part of the club’s plans for the season.
However, the winger started only seven Premier League matches for City. Tottenham have now revived their interest after appointing De Zerbi, with the Italian coach looking to improve his attacking options in wide areas.
Savinho has found it difficult to make a significant impact at Manchester City since joining from Troyes in 2024. He has made 84 appearances for the club, scoring seven goals and providing 13 assists.
The Brazilian has informed Manchester City that he wants to leave, as he appears to be on the fringes of Enzo Maresca’s plans. Although his ability has not been displayed consistently enough in the Premier League, De Zerbi believes Savinho would be an ideal addition to Tottenham’s attack.
Tottenham’s willingness to spend heavily this summer means a deal for Savinho would take their total investment close to the £300m mark. The club’s pursuit of the winger is now advancing on both the financial and personal fronts, with the remaining negotiations focused on completing the agreement between the two clubs.
The transfer would give De Zerbi another attacking option as he continues to shape his Tottenham team. Savinho’s potential arrival would also bring an end to a period in which Tottenham’s interest had remained unresolved after Guardiola prevented the move from happening last summer.
