Tottenham beat Coventry to claim first Premier League win of the season

Tottenham secured their first victory of the new Premier League season by beating Coventry 3-1 in the seventh round of fixtures.

James Maddison put the hosts ahead in the 14th minute, taking advantage of an opportunity to give Tottenham the lead. Coventry responded by increasing their attacking efforts, but could not find an equaliser before half-time.

The visitors drew level five minutes after the interval. Jack Rudoni scored in the 50th minute to make it 1-1 and briefly give Coventry hope of taking something from the match.

Their parity lasted only eight minutes, however. Omar Marmoush restored Tottenham’s advantage in the 58th minute, putting the London side back in front.

Ben Davies completed the scoring in the sixth minute of added time to confirm a 3-1 victory for Tottenham.

The result lifted Spurs out of the relegation zone, with the club now on six points. Coventry also have six points.
