Thmanyah has signed prominent Saudi presenter Turki Alajmah to host its flagship programme Malaab Thmanyah during the next season, adding another major name to the increasingly competitive Saudi football broadcasting market.
The move follows the departure of Alajmah from the Rotana network in May. He had previously presented Koora on Rotana Khalijia, but left the group as Saudi broadcasters began reshaping their sports coverage ahead of the new campaign.
Reports at the time suggested that fellow Saudi presenter Waleed Al-Farraj would become Rotana’s leading on-screen figure for the new season, replacing Alajmah. That expectation has now been confirmed, with Rotana recently announcing an agreement for Al-Farraj to present a new programme.
Al-Farraj will begin hosting Rotana Sport with Waleed on a daily basis from next Wednesday, 12 August.
Thmanyah, the official broadcaster of Roshn Saudi League matches, announced on Friday that Alajmah would join its presenting team. He will lead Malaab Thmanyah throughout the coming season, creating a direct link between two of the most recognisable personalities in Saudi football media and rival broadcasting platforms.
The appointment attracted attention beyond Saudi Arabia. Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano shared a video on his personal account on X showing Alajmah being introduced as the latest presenter to join Thmanyah.
The changes form part of a wider period of movement among Saudi football programmes, alongside the activity taking place at clubs during the summer transfer window. Broadcasters are strengthening their line-ups as interest in domestic football continues to grow and the new Roshn Saudi League season approaches.
Saudi presenter Khaled Al-Sheneif has also confirmed that his programme Dourina Ghair will continue on Saudi TV during the next campaign.
Meanwhile, fellow presenter Abdulrahman Al-Humaidi has announced that Nadina will remain on MBC1 for the coming season.
Further announcements about sports programmes covering Saudi football are expected in the weeks ahead, with broadcasters preparing schedules that will follow competitions across the season.
The new Saudi football campaign is due to begin on 13 August, when Roshn Saudi League fixtures get under way. The start of the league will come only a few days before the opening of the King’s Cup, adding to the demand for daily analysis, match coverage and discussion across Saudi television and digital platforms.
The latest moves mean Alajmah and Al-Farraj will occupy prominent roles at different networks as the broadcast landscape enters the new season. Their appointments underline the importance broadcasters are placing on established presenters while seeking to build programmes around the country’s leading football competition.
