Nigeria striker Terem Moffi is attracting interest from German club Hamburger SV and Turkish side Besiktas after being told he is not part of OGC Nice’s plans for the coming season.
The 27-year-old forward is expected to leave the French club this summer, with offers reportedly reaching his agent as he looks for a new destination following an uncertain period in his career.
Moffi’s situation became clearer after Nice confirmed that the striker was surplus to requirements. The decision means the Nigeria international must find another club before the summer transfer window closes.
Hamburger SV, who compete in Germany’s Bundesliga, have emerged as one of the clubs monitoring his availability, while Besiktas are also interested in signing the former Lorient forward.
The developments come after Moffi spent the second half of last season on loan at Portuguese champions FC Porto.
Despite joining Porto temporarily, the striker was unable to secure a permanent contract with the club, leaving his future unclear after his return to Nice.
Moffi now appears to have two possible routes out of the French club, with both Hamburg and Besiktas considering moves for the attacker.
A report by Tribal Football said: “Bundesliga side Hamburger SV have emerged as the latest club interested in signing Nigerian striker Terem Moffi from Ligue 1 outfit OGC Nice this summer.
“The 27-year-old returned to France after spending the second half of last season on loan at Portuguese champions FC Porto and is expected to leave Nice before the transfer window closes.
“Moffi’s future has become increasingly uncertain after Nice president, Maurice Cohen confirmed that the club are willing to sell several players as they reshape their squad.
“Hamburger SV are monitoring the situation and could make a move to strengthen their attack. However, Turkish giants Besiktas are also interested in the former Lorient striker, who joined Nice permanently in 2023.”
Moffi joined Nice permanently in 2023 after his spell with Lorient, where he had established himself as a forward before moving to the French club.
His latest situation comes as Nice prepares to reshape its squad, with the club willing to allow several players to leave.
For Moffi, the immediate priority is therefore to secure a new club after his time at Porto ended without a permanent agreement.
Hamburger SV’s interest could offer him an opportunity to continue his career in Germany, while Besiktas provide another potential destination in Turkey.
The two clubs are now among the options available to the striker as he seeks to resolve his future before the transfer window closes.
Moffi’s next move will bring an end to a period of uncertainty that began after Nice decided he was no longer part of their plans and Porto did not turn his loan spell into a permanent transfer.
With interest from both Germany and Turkey, the Nigeria striker has at least two potential opportunities as he considers where to continue his career.
