Tacchinardi attacks Juventus after Lazio defeat: ‘I don’t see an improved team’

Former Juventus midfielder Alessio Tacchinardi has criticised the club’s performance in their 3-0 home defeat by Lazio, saying he could see no clear identity or progress under head coach Luciano Spalletti.

Juventus were comfortably beaten by Gennaro Gattuso’s Lazio on Sunday evening, with Oliver Provstgaard, Gustav Isaksen and Fisayo Dele-Bashiru scoring for the visiting Biancocelesti.

The result leaves Juventus eight points behind the league leaders after seven matches. They also have one point fewer than they had at the same stage of the 2025-26 season, when Igor Tudor was in charge.

The poor start has led to calls for Spalletti to leave, while some supporters have urged Antonio Conte to return as head coach.

Tacchinardi, speaking as a pundit for Mediaset, was particularly critical of Juventus’ display and questioned the team’s development during Spalletti’s time in charge.

“They were lost, an embarrassing Juve tonight,” Tacchinardi said, according to Corriere dello Sport.

“Despite the fact they played on Thursday, I don’t think it’s a team that’s been overloaded physically or mentally.

“But let’s get into it. A year after Spalletti’s appointment, I don’t see a clear identity, I don’t see an improved team, so I don’t know whether or not the club will be making any evaluations.

“On its current trend, this team is really negative. It was the ugliest Juve performance under Spalletti’s management.”
