Swansea City extended their advantage at the top of the Championship with a 2-1 victory over Norwich City, as Moussa Yeo and Adam Idah completed a second-half comeback.
Norwich took the lead through Jacob Wright in the 28th minute, but Yeo equalised four minutes after the interval before Idah headed in the winner against his first club in the 59th minute.
The result extended Swansea’s unbeaten home run in the Championship to five matches. They had started the game slowly after the international break, with Stephen Eustaquio joining Josh Key on the injury list, while Norwich were without top scorer Mohamed Toure.
West Ham’s draw the previous evening had given Swansea the chance to strengthen their position at the summit. However, Norwich pressed aggressively and disrupted the hosts’ early build-up.
Yeo registered the first attempt after 15 minutes, shooting from just outside the Norwich penalty area, but Vladan Kovacevic saved comfortably. Norwich responded when Mathias Kvistgaarden was found in a promising position by Pelle Mattsson, although he was unable to convert.
Swansea had a good opportunity in the 22nd minute after Joseph Opoku won possession near halfway and carried the ball towards the Norwich box. His pass presented Idah with a chance, but the striker’s heavy touch allowed Kovacevic to make the save.
Norwich continued to threaten on the counter. A dangerous cross from the left forced Stephen Welsh to head over his own goal from beneath the Swansea crossbar, conceding a corner.
The set-piece was cleared, but Andre Brooks and Oscar Schwartau then combined to dispossess Welsh. Schwartau’s pass across the penalty area reached Wright, who finished to put Norwich ahead.
Idah was denied twice more by Kovacevic before half-time as Swansea struggled to find a way through.
The leaders improved significantly after the break and drew level when Yeo scored for the third consecutive game. Neat play down the left released Josh Tymon, whose cross was missed at the near post by Idah before Yeo converted at the far post.
Swansea continued to press. Goncalo Franco created an opening for Idah, whose shot was saved by Kovacevic, before Ruairi McConville cleared Opoku’s rebound off the line.
Idah then completed the turnaround shortly before the hour mark, meeting an inch-perfect cross from Melker Widell with a glancing header. He was forced off soon afterwards with a limp and was replaced by Zan Vipotnik.
Norwich pushed for an equaliser late on, but Swansea goalkeeper Lawrence Vigouroux kept out Sam Field’s effort. Jovon Makama then headed over from five yards as the visitors missed their final clear chance.
