Strahinja Pavlovic is edging closer to signing a new long-term contract with AC Milan, despite his current agreement with the Italian club running until the summer of 2028.
The 25-year-old Serbia international has impressed the Milan hierarchy since joining the club, and the Rossoneri are now prepared to offer him an extended deal. According to Italian transfer insider Nicolo Schira, discussions are progressing towards an agreement that would keep Pavlovic at AC Milan until the middle of 2031.
The proposed extension would represent a significant increase in the length of the defender’s commitment to the club. Although his existing contract still has two years to run beyond the current period, Milan are understood to be keen to secure Pavlovic’s future for the long term.
Pavlovic moved to AC Milan in the summer of 2024 from Austrian side Red Bull Salzburg. Since arriving in Italy, he has established himself as an important member of the squad and has made 75 appearances for the club in all competitions.
During those matches, the central defender has scored seven goals and provided three assists. His involvement in both defensive and attacking phases has contributed to Milan’s positive view of his performances and helped make him a priority for a new agreement.
The Serbia international’s current deal remains valid until the summer of 2028, meaning there is no immediate contractual pressure on Milan to reach terms. However, the club’s willingness to negotiate an agreement lasting until 2031 underlines its confidence in Pavlovic’s value and his place in the team’s future plans.
Pavlovic joined Red Bull Salzburg before making the move to Milan and has since continued his career in one of Europe’s most prominent leagues. His spell with the Italian club has so far produced 75 appearances across all competitions, with seven goals and three assists recorded during that time.
Schira’s information indicates that negotiations are moving closer to a conclusion, although the new contract has not yet been formally confirmed by AC Milan or Pavlovic. For now, the defender remains tied to the Rossoneri through 2028, while both sides work towards a possible extension that could run through the middle of 2031.
