St. Pauli tie down highly-rated Guinean teenager Kaba

FC St. Pauli have moved to secure the future of one of their most promising academy graduates after handing 18-year-old midfielder Wissou Kaba his first professional contract.

The deal is a significant vote of confidence in the youngster, who enjoyed a breakthrough campaign at youth level and is increasingly viewed as a player capable of making the step up to senior football in the coming years.

Kaba caught the eye with the club’s U19 side last season, contributing 15 goal involvements in 19 appearances. His performances earned him opportunities with the U23 team, where he began gaining experience in the Regionalliga Nord while continuing his development within St. Pauli’s pathway.

Sporting director Andreas Bornemann said the club is delighted to continue working with the teenager, describing the new contract as part of a long-term plan to help Kaba reach his full potential.

The midfielder has already represented his country at U18 level on four occasions and is regarded as one of the standout prospects in St. Pauli’s academy system. Club officials believe his technical ability, attacking instincts and versatility make him a player to watch in the coming seasons.

For Kaba, the professional deal marks the beginning of a new chapter. Having impressed throughout the youth ranks, his next challenge will be turning potential into consistent performances as he pushes for opportunities closer to the first-team squad.
