Liverpool manager Arne Slot has suggested that Mohamed Salah may already have played his final match for the club, following the forward’s injury during the recent victory over Crystal Palace.
Salah was forced off in the second half of Liverpool’s 3-1 win at Anfield, leaving the pitch in the 59th minute with a muscle problem. Before heading down the tunnel, he acknowledged supporters, fuelling speculation that the moment could represent a farewell appearance.
Speaking after the match, Slot acknowledged the uncertainty surrounding Salah’s situation. He told Sky Sports: “Could this have been Salah’s last game for the team? Honestly, yes, considering the way he left the pitch.”
Injury clouds final weeks of Salah’s Liverpool career
The Egypt international had already confirmed in March that he would leave Liverpool at the end of the current season, bringing to a close a nine-year spell at the club in which he secured major honours and established himself as one of its most influential players.
Slot indicated that the injury, combined with the limited time remaining in the campaign, raises doubts about whether Salah will feature again before his departure.
“He had this idea because there are only a few weeks left, but we hope he will play with us again. He will undergo medical tests, and then we have to wait for the diagnosis,” Slot added.
Liverpool are awaiting the outcome of medical assessments to determine the severity of the injury and whether Salah will be available for the remaining fixtures.

Reflecting on the performance, he said: “We have played many matches this season where we deserved more than we got. The match was evenly balanced, and it could have ended differently.”
He also praised individual contributions, highlighting key moments that influenced the outcome. “A fantastic goal from Florian Wirtz, who put in a great effort, and we made our own luck too. Freddie Woodman, the goalkeeper, had an incredible game, saving many balls, and Isaac scored his first goal at Anfield this season, which is hard to believe and shows how unlucky he is.”
Slot emphasised the importance of securing victories during the closing stages of the season, regardless of the margin.
“We need to win our matches, and that is our main objective. We want to win by the largest possible margin. The goal difference was not important today; what was important was winning the match. It was a very close match.”

The Liverpool manager also addressed supporter unrest regarding ticket price increases, acknowledging differing perspectives within the club.
“In football, there are always disagreements, and everyone wants what’s best for the club… the owners and the fans alike.”
He added that backing from supporters remains crucial to the team’s performance.
“The most important thing for me is that we got the support after that, as happened last week against Fulham… The disagreements will remain as they are now.”
