Sint-Truiden sign DR Congo-France winger Nathanael Mbuku on loan

Nathanael Mbuku has joined Belgian club Sint-Truiden from Augsburg on a season-long loan, giving the 24-year-old DR Congo and France winger a new chapter in the Jupiler Pro League.

Mbuku completed the move on 3 September 2026 and will remain with Sint-Truiden until 30 June 2027. The left-footed attacker, who stands 1.70m tall, wears the number 11 shirt for his new club.

The transfer brings an end to Mbuku’s time with Augsburg for the current campaign. He returned to the German side in June after spending the 2025-26 season on loan at Montpellier, where he had moved from Augsburg in July 2025.

Before that spell in France, Mbuku spent the 2024-25 season with Dinamo Zagreb on loan. He joined the Croatian club after making a temporary move away from Augsburg, having originally signed for the Bundesliga side from Stade Reims in January 2023 on a free transfer.

Mbuku began his senior career at Reims after progressing through the club’s youth system. He previously played for Reims B and was part of the club’s academy setup before establishing himself in senior football.

His latest campaign has also included international experience at the 2026 World Cup, where he made three appearances. He started in half of those matches and played 40% of his team’s available minutes, receiving one yellow card without scoring or providing an assist.

At club level, Mbuku has yet to appear for Augsburg in the Bundesliga or DFB-Pokal during the 2026-27 season before moving to Belgium. His arrival gives Sint-Truiden a player whose primary position is on the left wing and whose career has included spells in Germany, France and Croatia.

Mbuku’s Augsburg contract runs until 30 June 2027, while his loan with Sint-Truiden is scheduled to conclude on the same date. The move to Belgium was completed on 3 September 2026.
