Ayman Al-Shari’i, president of ENPPI SC, has confirmed that Mostafa Shakshak has completed a permanent move to Al Ahli Tripoli following his loan spell at the Libyan side.
The 25-year-old, who can operate both as a midfielder and right-back, had joined Al Ahli Tripoli on loan during the most recent winter transfer window. After a short period with the club, a decision has now been taken to convert the temporary arrangement into a full transfer.
Speaking to FilGoal, Al-Shari’i confirmed that the deal had been finalised. “We have completed the transfer of Mustafa Shakshak to Al-Ahly Tripoli in a final sale agreement.”
Loan spell leads to permanent move
Shakshak’s performances during his loan stint appear to have influenced the decision to secure his services on a long-term basis. Over the course of his time with the Libyan club, he featured in five matches, contributing one goal and two assists.
While his appearances were limited, his contributions in both defensive and attacking roles underlined his versatility, making him a valuable option within the squad.
The move reflects Al Ahli Tripoli’s confidence in the player’s abilities, as they continue to strengthen their squad following a successful domestic campaign.
Previous interest from Al Ahly did not materialise
Al-Shari’i also addressed earlier speculation linking the player with a move to Al Ahly SC during the January transfer window. Despite reported discussions, no formal agreement was reached.
“I have a very special relationship with Mahmoud Al-Khatib due to his previous friendship with my father, and my relationship with him will never end. He is a person who compels you to appreciate and respect him.”
He added that negotiations did not progress beyond informal talks, with financial considerations proving a decisive factor. “Al-Ahly did not speak to me directly about signing Mustafa Shakshak, but there were side talks and the amount that was offered to sign the player was not satisfactory to me.”
The ENPPI president further explained his reasoning for opting for a loan move instead. “I found that the amount offered to let Mustafa Shakshak go to Al-Ahly was very weak compared to the player’s level, so I agreed to loan him to Al-Ahly Tripoli for $500,000, which is a figure close to Al-Ahly’s offer to buy the player.”
Successful environment at Al Ahli Tripoli
Shakshak joins a team currently managed by Hossam El Badry, who guided Al Ahli Tripoli to a domestic treble last season. The club’s recent success and competitive environment may have played a role in securing the player’s long-term commitment.
The move signals continuity for both player and club, with Shakshak now expected to play a more prominent role as he settles into the squad.
