Senegal international Mamadou Lamine Camara will not feature for Al Ahli Tripoli this season after administrative delays prevented his registration following a winter transfer move from Morocco.
The 22-year-old midfielder had completed a switch from RS Berkane to the Libyan club during the most recent transfer window.
However, despite the deal being finalised, the required paperwork was not processed in time before the registration deadline, leaving him ineligible to play competitive matches for the remainder of the campaign.
The setback represents a significant interruption in the young player’s career progression, particularly at a time when he is seeking to establish himself at club level while remaining in contention for national team opportunities.
Camara’s transfer was further complicated by a dispute involving his former club, RS Berkane.
The Moroccan side reportedly challenged aspects of the move by taking the matter to FIFA, creating uncertainty around the player’s status.
Although both clubs eventually reached an agreement to complete the transfer, the delay contributed to the failure to register him before the window closed.
As a result, Al Ahli Tripoli were unable to include Camara in their official squad list submitted to local authorities.
Without registration, the midfielder cannot take part in any official fixtures until the next registration period opens.
For the Libyan club, the situation means they will be without a player they had targeted as part of their mid-season reinforcements.
For Camara, it means months on the sidelines in competitive terms, despite having already secured his move.
Born in Dakar, Camara began his football journey at the Académie Foot Darou Salam before moving to Morocco in 2021 to join RS Berkane.
His development in North Africa helped him gain recognition, earning him opportunities at international level.
He has represented Senegal at youth level, including a call-up to the under-20 squad for the 2023 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations.
His progress was further acknowledged with inclusion in the senior national team setup ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
The latest development, however, raises questions about how the lack of competitive action could affect his momentum, particularly as he looks to strengthen his place within Senegal’s national team plans.
