The future of Serhou Guirassy at Borussia Dortmund is increasingly uncertain despite the striker remaining under contract until 2028, with growing expectations in Germany that he could leave the club this summer.
Speaking on Sky Germany’s “Auffe Süd” podcast, journalist Patrick Berger suggested the Guinean forward may be tempted by both improved sporting conditions and a more lucrative financial package elsewhere.
Berger claimed Guirassy is not completely satisfied with his current situation at Dortmund, particularly regarding the tactical setup under the coaching staff.
“He could receive an even better contract elsewhere and decide to go,” Berger explained, while adding that the striker still maintains a positive relationship with the coach, who has consistently defended and supported him publicly.
Sky colleague Jesco von Eichmann also indicated that recent developments around the player point toward a possible departure.
“I think he’s leaving. That’s my interpretation based on what I’ve experienced from him recently,” he said.
Despite the speculation, Dortmund’s hierarchy have publicly attempted to calm concerns surrounding the striker’s future.
Sporting director Nils-Ole Book insisted that the club’s intention is not to sell Guirassy, although he stopped short of completely ruling out a transfer.
“It’s not our plan and not our premise to let him go,” Book stated, before acknowledging that exceptional offers would still be considered.
The situation now appears to depend on whether interested clubs are prepared to meet Dortmund’s financial demands while also convincing Guirassy with a stronger sporting project and salary package.
The striker enjoyed another productive campaign and remains one of the most highly rated African forwards in European football, meaning interest from elite clubs is unlikely to disappear anytime soon.
For Dortmund, losing Guirassy would represent a major sporting blow given his importance in attack and consistent goalscoring impact. However, with the player reportedly unhappy with aspects of the team’s tactical direction, speculation surrounding his future is expected to intensify throughout the summer transfer window.
