Senegal international Krépin Diatta has begun training with Watford after completing his move to the English Championship club.
The 27-year-old right-back has joined the Hornets as a free agent following the end of his spell with AS Monaco and has wasted little time getting started with his new teammates.
Diatta took part in his first training session with Watford as he begins preparations for a new chapter in England.
The Senegalese defender has signed a contract with Watford after leaving Monaco in July, bringing international experience and versatility to the club’s right flank.
His arrival represents a significant addition for Watford, with Diatta able to operate in several positions on the right side of the pitch.
The Senegal international can play as a defender, midfielder or in an attacking role, giving the English Championship side an option who can be deployed across the flank depending on tactical requirements.
Diatta arrives at Watford with considerable experience at international level and was part of Senegal’s squad at this summer’s World Cup.
His performances for the Teranga Lions have helped establish him as an experienced member of the national team, and Watford will hope that experience can benefit their campaign in the English second tier.
The move also marks a fresh stage in Diatta’s club career after his departure from Monaco.
Having spent the previous period of his career in France, the Senegalese international will now continue his career in England with Watford.
The Hornets completed the signing on a free transfer, with the deal initially covering one season and including an option for an additional year.
Another part of the agreement described Diatta as signing a two-year contract, with the Senegalese international becoming the latest addition to Watford’s squad.
Diatta’s immediate focus is now on adapting to his new surroundings and working with his new teammates.
His first training session comes soon after his arrival, giving him an early opportunity to begin settling into the squad and preparing for the demands of Championship football.
For Watford, his versatility could prove useful throughout the season.
The ability to cover defensive, midfield and attacking roles on the right flank gives the club flexibility when selecting its team.
The Senegal international’s arrival also gives Watford a player with experience of competing at the highest level, including on the international stage with the Lions of Teranga.
Diatta will now look to translate that experience into his new environment as Watford prepare for their Championship campaign.
With his first training session already completed, the work has begun for the Senegalese international as he starts life at his new club.
