Senegalese-descended Jaydee Canvot open to PSG move

Crystal Palace defender Jaydee Canvot is reportedly receptive to the prospect of joining Paris Saint-Germain, giving the French champions a potential advantage as they consider a move for the young centre-back.

The 20-year-old, who has Senegalese, Guadeloupean and Martinican roots, is said to be flattered by PSG’s interest and attracted to the project at the French club.

However, no transfer has been announced, and any move would depend on whether the Parisian side makes a formal offer and Crystal Palace agrees to a deal.

PSG have reportedly identified Canvot as a priority target, with the defender’s openness to a possible move potentially strengthening their position in the pursuit.

The situation remains uncertain, though, as Crystal Palace are understood to be keen to retain the player.

The Premier League club are under no immediate pressure to sell, with Canvot’s contract running until 2029.

That long-term agreement places Palace in a strong negotiating position should PSG decide to pursue their interest with a formal bid.

Canvot’s reported market value stands at €35m, according to Transfermarkt, highlighting the potential financial commitment involved in any negotiations.

While PSG’s interest could offer the defender an opportunity to join one of France’s leading clubs, the next step will depend on whether the champions are prepared to turn their reported interest into a concrete offer.

For now, the prospect of a move remains speculation rather than a confirmed transfer. Palace’s determination to keep the defender could complicate any attempt by PSG to secure his services.

Canvot was born in metropolitan France and has represented the country at youth level, including appearances for the under-17 and under-19 teams.

His family background connects him to Senegal, Guadeloupe and Martinique, adding an African dimension to interest surrounding his future.

However, his involvement with France’s youth teams does not, by itself, establish which country he might represent at senior international level.

At 20, Canvot is attracting attention as he continues his career at Crystal Palace, while the possibility of joining PSG presents a potential new chapter in his development.

The reported interest from the Parisian club and the player’s positive response have placed his future under the spotlight.

Nevertheless, with Palace keen to retain him and his contract extending to 2029, any potential transfer is likely to depend on the strength of PSG’s interest and the terms offered.
