Senegal international Bamba Dieng is close to ending uncertainty over his future, with the striker nearing a move to Turkish club Amed SK.
Negotiations between the two sides have progressed significantly in recent days, and only a small number of administrative issues are reportedly left before the transfer can be officially completed.
Italian journalist Matteo Moretto has reported that the deal is at an advanced stage, with only “minor details” needing to be resolved before Dieng’s arrival is confirmed.
Amed SK have now moved into pole position for the signature of the 26-year-old forward after a summer of speculation surrounding his next destination.
Dieng became a free agent after leaving French club Lorient at the end of last season, a situation that attracted interest from several clubs looking to strengthen their attacking options.
Among those linked with the Senegalese striker were English clubs Derby County and Burnley, while other teams also monitored his availability.
Saudi Arabian side Al Shabab had also been considered a possible destination for Dieng, but that move failed to progress after the club reportedly did not receive approval for the financial investment required to complete the transfer.
With the Saudi option no longer available, Amed SK have taken advantage of the situation and are now close to securing the services of the former Olympique de Marseille player.
The Kurdish club’s management is said to be optimistic about completing the agreement and bringing in a forward with international experience and proven ability.
Dieng’s potential move to Turkey comes after interest from several leagues, including Saudi Arabia, England and Russia.
Russian clubs Krasnodar FC and Zenit Saint Petersburg have also reportedly shown interest in the Senegalese attacker.
However, Amed SK appear to have moved fastest in the race and are now expected to finalise the transfer unless there is a late change.
The Pikine-born forward has built a reputation as a dynamic attacker capable of operating across the front line. His performances in Europe have helped him establish himself as a regular presence around the Senegal national team setup.
Dieng is currently valued at €15 million by Transfermarkt, underlining his status as one of the more sought-after free agents available in the current transfer window.
