Senegal rewards young champions after African title success

Senegal football authorities have delivered the financial rewards promised to the country’s young champions, with the U15 and U17 national teams receiving additional bonuses following their success in African competitions.

The Senegal Football Federation (FSF) has added extra payments to the support packages announced by President Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar Faye, with each member of the U15 delegation receiving an additional FCFA 500,000, while members of the U17 African championship-winning team have been handed FCFA 1 million each.

The rewards come one month after the two teams were celebrated at the Presidential Palace following their continental triumphs.

During the official reception in June, President Faye announced a series of incentives for the young players, including financial support, educational opportunities, health insurance coverage for two years and an 11th-generation iPad.

Those benefits have now been distributed to the players and members of the delegations.

The U15 players received a support package valued at FCFA 2.5 million each. The package includes a two-year scholarship or training programme worth FCFA 2 million, financial assistance for the player and their family, 24 months of health insurance and an iPad valued at FCFA 300,000.

The FSF later increased the value of the reward by adding an extra FCFA 500,000 for each player and member of the delegation, according to Iwsport.

The U17 squad, which recently claimed African championship honours, received an even larger package.

Each member of the victorious team was awarded support worth FCFA 3 million, covering educational assistance, a financial grant, health insurance and an iPad.

The FSF’s additional FCFA 1 million bonus means every player and delegation member received further recognition from the country’s football governing body.

The move highlights Senegal’s growing focus on rewarding success at youth level and investing in the next generation of footballers.

The country has enjoyed a strong period of achievement across different age groups in recent years, with youth teams playing an important role in building the future of Senegalese football.

The latest rewards also come as part of efforts to encourage young players who represent the national colours at international competitions.

For the U15 and U17 champions, the recognition marks the continuation of their journey after bringing continental glory to Senegal.

The financial support and educational opportunities are designed not only to celebrate their achievements but also to help them continue their development both on and off the pitch.
