The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) opened its hearing in Lausanne on Thursday to examine the disputed CAN 2025 final, with Senegal saying it remains confident after presenting its case.
The hearing was held in the presence of both parties, but no details of the discussions were released afterwards.
Abdoulaye Sow, Secretary General of the Senegalese Football Federation, told RMC Sport that Senegal’s lawyers had been heard by the arbitration panel and had set out the country’s position.
“What we can say is that our lawyers presented our case, set out all our observations and were heard by the arbitration panel,” Sow said.
“Now it is up to the CAS to issue its decision in the coming days or weeks. I cannot say what really happened because the deliberations are confidential. But I can assure you that Senegal defended itself well.”
No statement was made about the content of the arguments presented during the hearing.
The CAS decision will determine who is officially declared the winner of CAN 2025, a question that has drawn widespread attention across Africa and among football supporters on the continent.
