Saudi Arabia v Qatar: Ticket problems overshadow Gulf Cup 27 semi-final

Ticketing problems and weak sales have emerged as a major concern before Saudi Arabia’s Gulf Cup 27 semi-final against Qatar.

Saudi newspaper Al Arabiya reported that demand for tickets had so far been limited, with technical difficulties preventing some supporters from completing their purchases.

The problems are reported to occur during the payment stage of the booking process. That has made it difficult for fans to secure tickets despite their desire to attend a match regarded as one of the most important fixtures of the tournament.

Al Arabiya also reported that 16,600 complimentary tickets had been distributed to Saudi supporters in an effort to increase attendance and provide stronger backing for the Saudi Arabia team from the stands.

The Qatar Football Association, meanwhile, has bought 700 tickets to distribute among Qatari fans based in Jeddah. The move is intended to ensure the Qatar team also receives support during the semi-final.

Saudi Arabia and Qatar are competing for a place in the Gulf Cup 27 final, with the match attracting considerable attention ahead of kick-off. However, the question of how many supporters will be able to attend remains one of the main issues surrounding the fixture.
