Ghanaian-Italian forward Caleb Ekuban, currently without a club, has been linked with a move to Sampdoria in Serie B.
The 32-year-old centre-forward left Genoa on 1 July 2026 after five seasons with the Italian club. He joined Genoa from Trabzonspor in August 2021 in a deal worth €2.6m.
Ekuban has made 108 Serie A appearances, scoring 10 goals and providing nine assists, while his record in Turkey’s top flight stands at 20 goals and 12 assists in 83 matches. He also made 14 Serie B appearances earlier in his career, scoring twice and registering two assists.
His career has included spells with Chievo Verona, Leeds United, Trabzonspor and Genoa, as well as loan periods at Italian clubs including Sudtirol, Lumezzane and Renate. He began his senior career in Italy before moving abroad, and won the Turkish Cup with Trabzonspor in the 2019-20 season.
Sampdoria are preparing for another campaign in Italy’s second tier, and Ekuban’s experience across Serie A, Serie B and the Turkish Super Lig forms the background to the reported link. His recorded market value is €1.2m.
Ekuban remains without a club following his departure from Genoa, with Sampdoria the club currently associated with his next move.
