Sael Kumbedi, the French and Congolese right-back at Wolfsburg, is being linked with a move to Marseille in Ligue 1.
Kumbedi, 21, returned to Germany permanently in January after Wolfsburg signed him from Lyon for €6m. The defender had initially joined Wolfsburg on loan in August 2025 before the deal was made permanent at the end of the year.
He is under contract with the Bundesliga club until 30 June 2029, while his current market value is listed at €12m. Any move to Marseille would therefore involve a player tied to Wolfsburg for the next three seasons.
Kumbedi has made 24 Bundesliga appearances and provided five assists. He also recorded 52 Ligue 1 appearances and four assists during his time in France, giving Marseille a potential recruit with previous experience of the competition.
The defender began his senior career with Le Havre before joining Lyon in August 2022. He won the European Under-17 Championship with France in 2022.
The reported interest comes after Kumbedi’s first season as a permanent Wolfsburg player, with Marseille considering a return for the 21-year-old to French football. No transfer has been confirmed, and Kumbedi remains a Wolfsburg player under his existing contract.
