Renaissance sportive de Berkane are attempting a major double signing in the African transfer market, with Cape Verde coach Bubista and veteran goalkeeper Vozinha both under consideration as the Moroccan club reshape their squad and coaching staff.
The Botola side are looking for a new manager following Mouine Chaabani’s departure for Tunisia, while also seeking an experienced goalkeeper. Several Moroccan media outlets report that Berkane have made progress in their pursuit of Bubista, although negotiations remain complicated.
Bubista travelled to Morocco on Sunday to hold direct talks with the club’s leadership, according to Le Site Info. However, a significant disagreement is currently preventing an agreement.
The Cape Verde coach wants to combine the Berkane job with his existing role as national-team manager. Under that arrangement, he would return to lead the Blue Sharks during international windows.
That proposal has been rejected by the RSB hierarchy, who want a coach fully committed to the club. Unless the two sides can find a compromise, Bubista’s potential appointment could collapse.
Only a few days ago, Bubista had indicated that he wanted to continue working with Cape Verde, despite receiving several offers both before and after the 2026 World Cup.
Berkane are also interested in Vozinha, another central figure in Cape Verde’s historic campaign at the tournament. The 40-year-old goalkeeper had appeared set to join Chilean club Colo-Colo, who announced his signing on social media.
However, his move to Santiago has reportedly been postponed three times. One of the player’s concerns is the amount of playing time he would receive at the Chilean club.
Those delays have allowed Berkane to re-enter the race. Brazilian outlet Globo reports that Vozinha is now waiting for an official offer from the Moroccan club before making a final decision on his future.
Bubista and Vozinha played important roles in Cape Verde’s historic qualification for the round of 32 at the 2026 World Cup. Bringing the pair together would give Berkane’s new project considerable significance as the club competes in Botola and the CAF Champions League.
Neither deal, however, has been completed. Bubista’s prospective move appears particularly uncertain because of his determination to retain responsibility for the national team.
