According to transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, Barcelona and Internazionale will not reach an agreement over a player exchange or any other major transfer before the end of this summer’s window, despite renewed speculation involving several high-profile players.
Romano said reports linking the two clubs had no basis and insisted that there was “no chance” of an agreement being completed. The rumours had suggested that Federico Dimarco could move to Barcelona, with Alejandro Balde heading in the opposite direction to Internazionale.
Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick had previously indicated that Balde could find it difficult to secure regular playing time at the Catalan club. That assessment helped fuel suggestions that the left-back might be included in a possible deal involving Dimarco.
However, Romano dismissed that possibility while addressing questions from supporters on his channel.
“Many people asked tonight if Internazionale and Barcelona could reach a player exchange agreement. We also received many questions about Lautaro Martinez joining Barcelona.”
The journalist said speculation surrounding Lautaro Martinez’s future was also unfounded. The Argentina international had been repeatedly linked with a move to Barcelona, but Romano said there was no prospect of Internazionale agreeing to his departure this summer.
“There have been many rumors about Internazionale and Barcelona this summer, but the two clubs will not reach any agreement. Forget about it completelythere is no chance, no possibility. The situation with Lautaro Martinez leaving is the same.”
The rumours have also included Internazionale defender Alessandro Bastoni, who was reportedly being considered as a possible target for Barcelona. Romano said Barcelona had decided against pursuing the Italy international.
“There was also talk of Alessandro Bastoni transferring to Barcelona this summer, but Hansi Flick has decided not to pursue Bastoni, and the same goes for Cristian Romero.”
Cristian Romero had likewise been mentioned in connection with Barcelona, but Romano’s comments indicate that neither defender is currently being pursued by Flick’s side.
The latest reports once again suggested that discussions between Barcelona and Internazionale could lead to movement in the final stages of the transfer window. Romano, however, said those claims should be disregarded and that no agreement or deal was close to happening.
“Tonight, new rumors between Barcelona and Internazionale emerged again, but stop thinking the two clubs will reach any agreement this summer. Nothing will happen, and there will be no developments.”
The claims involving Dimarco, Balde, Lautaro Martinez, Bastoni and Romero therefore remain unsubstantiated, with Romano maintaining that there will be no transfer development between Barcelona and Internazionale this summer.
