Riyad Mahrez, the Algeria and France-qualified winger currently without a club, is being linked with a move to Saudi Pro League newcomers Al-Qadsiah. The 35-year-old left Al-Ahli earlier this month and is available as a free agent, opening the door for discussions over a return to Saudi Arabia’s top flight.
Al-Qadsiah are understood to be exploring the possibility of adding Mahrez’s experience and attacking output to their squad as they look to establish themselves in the division. Mahrez, whose market value is currently listed at €5m, would not command a transfer fee, making a short-term deal a viable option for the Dammam-based side.
The former Premier League star has already had a productive spell in Saudi Arabia, winning back-to-back AFC Champions League titles with Al-Ahli in 2024-25 and 2025-26, as well as the Saudi Super Cup in 2025-26. His record in the Saudi Pro League includes 23 goals and 35 assists in 90 appearances, underlining his impact in the region.
Mahrez remains a key figure for Algeria and has recently impressed on the international stage, scoring twice and providing one assist in four matches at the 2026 World Cup, where he was involved in 60% of his team’s goals.
Previously a Champions League winner and five-time English champion with Leicester City and Manchester City, Mahrez has now been unattached since 4 July 2026 following the end of his spell at Al-Ahli, leaving him free to negotiate directly with Al-Qadsiah over a potential deal.
