Tottenham have left forward Richarlison out of their squad for the current Premier League season after head coach Roberto De Zerbi told the 29-year-old Brazil international that he was no longer part of his plans.
According to ESPN, Tottenham informed Richarlison of the decision before the transfer window closed. The timing was intended to give the player an opportunity to find a new club and secure a move before the deadline.
However, Richarlison remained at Tottenham when the window shut, meaning he was not included in the club’s Premier League registration for the season.
A move to Turkey remains a possible route out for the forward. Clubs in the country are allowed to register new players until 4 September, extending the period in which Richarlison could still leave Tottenham.
Recent information from transfer insider Fabrizio Romano indicates that Richarlison is close to joining Trabzonspor. No completed transfer has been confirmed, but the Turkish club is understood to be one of the leading options for the player.
Richarlison joined Tottenham in 2022. He has made 134 appearances for the club, scoring 34 goals and providing 15 assists.
His exclusion from Tottenham’s Premier League squad follows the message from De Zerbi that the manager no longer expects to rely on him. The decision leaves Richarlison facing an uncertain next stage of his career, with Trabzonspor emerging as a potential destination while the Turkish registration window remains open.
For now, Richarlison is still a Tottenham player, but he will not form part of the club’s registered group for the current Premier League campaign. The possibility of a move to Trabzonspor means his situation could still change before Turkey’s deadline on 4 September.
