Real Madrid are preparing to unveil their new signings in a private ceremony at the club’s Valdebebas training complex this week, with the event expected to take place without supporters or media coverage.
The presentation will be held only days before Real Madrid begin their La Liga campaign against Espanyol on Saturday, 22 August. The club has chosen to move away from the public ceremonies that have traditionally accompanied the arrival of its new players, opting instead for a more intimate and family-focused occasion.
According to Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez will attend the event alongside members of the players’ families. The ceremony will take place inside the club’s facilities in Valdebebas, with the celebrations conducted behind closed doors.
The new arrivals have yet to receive formal presentations, despite Real Madrid completing six signings during the summer transfer window under Portuguese manager Jose Mourinho. The club has therefore prepared a special programme to introduce its new faces before the season officially begins.
Supporters will not be present at the ceremony, while the players are also not expected to hold news conferences afterwards. That represents a significant departure from previous seasons, when Real Madrid’s new signings were presented in front of large crowds and followed their appearances with expanded media sessions.
The list of names expected to feature in the presentation includes Mourinho, Diomande, Cucurella, Konate, Dumfries, Espai and Bernardo Silva. The club has described the arrangements as a different approach from the traditional format used to present new recruits.
Although Real Madrid’s usual unveiling ceremonies have often been public occasions designed to showcase the club’s signings to supporters, the planned event will instead focus on the players and their families. The decision also allows the club to complete its presentation schedule shortly before attention turns fully to competitive football.
Real Madrid will travel to face Espanyol in the second round of La Liga on Saturday, 22 August, with kick-off scheduled for 21:30. It will be the club’s first league match of the campaign.
The club hopes the new signings, together with Mourinho’s project, can mark a turning point after two seasons in which Real Madrid failed to achieve their objectives. The coming days are expected to provide a clearer picture of the new group before the team formally begins its challenge for the season’s trophies.
