Queiroz hits back at FA over unpaid dues claim

Former Egypt national football team head coach Carlos Queiroz has rejected claims that he has been paid all outstanding financial dues by the Egyptian Football Association, describing recent statements on the matter as inaccurate.

In comments reported by Batolat, the Portuguese manager responded directly to remarks attributed to Gamal Allam, who had suggested in a recent television interview that Queiroz and his foreign assistants had received their remaining payments.

Queiroz strongly disputed that account.

“What Gamal Allam said recently in a television interview, that he gave me and my foreign assistant staff all my remaining dues, is completely untrue.”

Strong Rebuttal to FA Claims

The former coach went further, accusing the official statement of being misleading and inaccurate. His response signals an ongoing dispute between the two parties over financial obligations following his tenure with the national side.

“What he said is a lie and deception, and I have not received the rest of my dues from the Football Association.”

The comments mark a sharp escalation in what appears to be a lingering disagreement over payments owed since Queiroz’s departure.

Background to Queiroz’s Tenure

Queiroz was appointed head coach of Egypt and guided the team to the final of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations. Egypt narrowly missed out on the title after losing to Senegal national football team in a penalty shootout.

Despite that run, his tenure ended shortly afterwards following Egypt’s failure to qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. Once again, Senegal proved to be the decisive opponent, defeating Egypt in the play-off round in March 2022.

His departure marked the end of a relatively brief but eventful period in charge of the national team.

Ongoing Financial Dispute

The latest exchange highlights unresolved issues between Queiroz and the Egyptian Football Association regarding contractual payments. While the governing body has maintained that dues have been settled, Queiroz’s remarks directly contradict that position.

The situation remains unclear, with no indication of whether the matter will be resolved through negotiation or escalate further. Disputes of this nature can often lead to formal proceedings if both sides fail to reach an agreement.

Wider Implications

Such disagreements can have broader implications for football governance and contractual trust, particularly when involving high-profile international coaches. Transparency in financial dealings is often critical to maintaining credibility within the sport.

For Queiroz, the issue appears to remain unresolved more than two years after his exit from the role, raising questions about the handling of contractual obligations.

Dispute Casts Shadow Over Past Tenure

Carlos Queiroz’s firm denial of receiving his outstanding dues has reignited scrutiny over his departure from Egypt. With conflicting accounts from both sides, the matter remains unsettled and could require further clarification. As it stands, the disagreement adds a contentious chapter to an otherwise notable period in charge of the national team.
