Egyptian centre-back Ali Elfil has joined Qanah from Modern Sport, completing a move between two Premier League clubs.
Elfil, 35, made the switch on 12 August 2026 after spending the previous four seasons with Modern Sport. The right-footed defender now adds experience to Qanah’s squad, having built a career largely in Egyptian football.
The defender has made 269 Premier League appearances and scored six goals. He has also played in the Egypt Cup, CAF Confederation Cup, relegation play-offs, Egyptian League Cup and Egyptian Super Cup, taking his recorded senior appearances across those competitions to 322.
Elfil began his senior career with T. Beni Suef before moving to Haras El Hodoud in September 2013. He joined Talaea El Gaish in July 2017 and spent five seasons with the club, later moving to Modern Future now Modern Sport on a free transfer in September 2022.
His time at Talaea El Gaish included the only major honour listed in his career, the Egyptian Super Cup, which he won during the 2020-21 season. He made 13 appearances in the CAF Confederation Cup and scored once in the competition, while also recording a goal in the Egypt Cup.
Elfil’s arrival keeps him in Egypt’s top flight and marks the latest move in a playing career that has included more than a decade of senior football. His previous Premier League experience includes spells with Haras El Hodoud, Talaea El Gaish and Modern Sport, before his transfer to Qanah.
Qanah are the latest club to secure the services of the Egyptian defender, who has represented the club since 12 August 2026.
