Christian Pulisic says he is “100% recovered” and hopes to extend his stay at Milan, while focusing on returning to action during the decisive part of the season.
The United States forward was speaking at a fan event at Milan’s store in San Siro, where he discussed his form, contract situation and several of his team-mates.
“I feel good and I’ve been working hard over the past few weeks,” Pulisic said. “The goal against Lecce was one of the most beautiful goals I’ve scored.”
Pulisic described the beginning of his season as unusual, explaining that although he wanted to play immediately, it took him time to return.
“It was a strange beginning to the season,” he said. “I wanted to play straight away, but it took some time. The goal against Lecce was one of my most beautiful goals, and it was only when I watched the replay that I realised how difficult it was.”
The 27-year-old also responded to the nickname “Captain America”, which is often used by the media.
“I don’t know where it came from – the media calls me that,” he said. “I don’t mind it, but I don’t pay much attention to it.”
Asked whether the phrase “the real Pulisic is back” reflected his current form, he added: “I’ve always felt good. It has nothing to do with goals, but now I do feel better and hope to keep it up.”
Pulisic said he had developed a positive relationship with Amorim and was encouraged by the team’s progress under his approach.
“We have a good relationship, and everyone is learning his style of play,” he said. “Everything that has happened so far makes me very optimistic. I think the last game was our best performance.”
His current Milan contract expires in 2028, but Pulisic made clear he would like to remain at the club.
“I’m very happy here and want to stay,” he said. “We’ll talk soon, but for now I’m focused on playing.”
On Goncalo Ramos, Pulisic praised the forward’s contribution despite his lack of goals.
“It’s great to play with him. He helps the team a lot and runs tirelessly for 90 minutes,” he said. “I know his abilities, so I’m not worried – the goals will come sooner or later.”
Pulisic also highlighted Musah’s development, describing him as potentially one of Milan’s best performers this season.
“I’ve seen him improve a lot this year. He’s playing very well, perhaps one of our best players this season,” Pulisic said. “He plays midfield for the national team, he’s physically very strong, and his dribbling is excellent.”
He also identified Modric as an important source of guidance.
“He’s 41 years old and in excellent form. He does everything very well and has a strong passion for football,” Pulisic said. “There’s always a lot for me to learn from him.”
With Milan facing a demanding schedule of nine matches in a month, Pulisic said he was ready to contribute.
“I am 100% recovered and feel good physically,” he said. “I’ve been working hard these past few weeks and I’m ready for the most important phase of the season. I want to play.”
