Sevilla midfielder Lucien Agoumé is attracting growing interest from several Premier League clubs ahead of the January transfer window, with the Spanish club reportedly expecting approaches for the 24-year-old.
According to AS, a number of English clubs have been monitoring the Franco-Cameroonian midfielder for several months and could make concrete moves when the winter transfer window opens.
Agoumé has a €40 million release clause in his Sevilla contract, which runs until June 2028. The figure could therefore play an important role in determining whether the midfielder remains in Andalusia or becomes the subject of a major transfer.
The interest comes after an impressive start to the season for Agoumé, who has become an increasingly important player in Sevilla manager Luis García Plaza’s team.
Since joining Sevilla from Inter Milan, the midfielder has gradually increased his influence within the squad. At 24, he is now regarded as one of the key components of García Plaza’s system.
His importance has been reflected in his involvement at the start of the current campaign.
AS reports that Agoumé was among the Sevilla players to have featured for every official minute of the season as of 28 September. He had played seven matches and completed 630 minutes during that period.
Sevilla have also made a positive start to their league campaign. After seven rounds, the Andalusian side had recorded four victories, one draw and two defeats.
Their two losses came against Atlético de Madrid and Barcelona.
Agoumé’s consistent involvement and Sevilla’s encouraging beginning to the campaign have helped attract attention from clubs in England.
According to AS, several Premier League sides have been watching the midfielder closely and Sevilla are now anticipating more serious approaches during the winter window.
That could leave the Spanish club facing an important decision in January.
Sevilla could choose to retain a player who has become an important part of the team, particularly given his regular involvement under García Plaza. Alternatively, the club could consider taking advantage of the interest from England and complete a significant financial transaction.
The €40 million release clause provides a clear figure around which any potential transfer could be built.
Agoumé’s contract still has time to run, with the current agreement due to expire in June 2028. However, the presence of the release clause means Sevilla’s ability to prevent a departure could depend on the nature of any approach received.
If an interested club meets the €40 million figure stipulated in the contract, Sevilla could face a difficult decision over whether to lose one of their important midfielders.
For now, no concrete offer is reported to have been completed, but the level of interest suggests the situation could develop when the January window opens.
Agoumé’s progress at Sevilla has been gradual since his arrival from Inter Milan, but his growing importance has now placed him on the radar of Premier League clubs.
The midfielder’s consistent presence in the team has coincided with Sevilla’s strong start to the season, increasing his profile as clubs in England assess potential January targets.
The coming months could therefore be significant for both Agoumé and Sevilla.
The player remains contracted to the Andalusian club until June 2028, while his €40 million release clause gives Sevilla a defined valuation if Premier League interest develops into formal approaches.
The club’s priority will now be to decide whether to resist potential bids and keep one of its key players or allow the interest from England to result in a major financial deal.
With the January transfer window approaching, Agoumé’s performances will continue to be closely watched as Sevilla prepare for the possibility of offers for their highly rated midfielder.
