Catalonia’s Mossos d’Esquadra police have identified the supporter accused of throwing an object and attempting to attack Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga and other players during Sunday’s Clasico at Camp Nou.
The incident occurred as Real Madrid celebrated their second goal. Play was briefly interrupted, while the incident prompted widespread condemnation.
According to Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo, the investigation established the identity of the person involved. Catalan police have since filed an official complaint under Spain’s sports law and formally notified Barcelona of the case.
The supporter could face an administrative fine of up to 60,000 euros, as well as a ban from entering sports grounds anywhere in Spain for between six months and two years.
Under the sports law, offences classified as “serious” carry fines ranging from 3,000 to 60,000 euros. If an offence is deemed “very serious”, the penalty can increase to between 60,001 and 650,000 euros, with a stadium ban lasting up to five years.
Because none of the players suffered injuries, the incident is expected to be treated as a serious offence rather than a very serious one.
La Liga and Barcelona investigations
The matter has also moved beyond the police investigation. La Liga has reported the incident to the disciplinary committee of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), which has opened a formal inquiry.
That process could lead to disciplinary action against Barcelona.
The club’s security department provided full and effective assistance to the police, which played a decisive role in identifying the suspect. He was found to be a member of one of the supporter groups located in the well-known Grada 1957 stand.
Barcelona said it would refer the supporter’s case to the club’s internal disciplinary committee. Possible sanctions include the withdrawal of his membership and a permanent ban from entering Camp Nou.
The Catalan club’s position is that action will be taken against behaviour that damages its image.
The article’s listed La Liga information includes Barcelona on 31 October 2026, Deportivo Alaves and Racing Santander on 1 November 2026, and Real Madrid.
