A mural honouring Franco Baresi has been defaced less than two months after the former Milan captain died.
The attackers used spray paint to cover parts of the artwork outside Milan’s offices. The mural had been created as a tribute to Baresi, who died from illness at the age of 66.
The vandals may have been supporters of Inter, although that has not been established.
According to pianetamilan.it, the offenders also left paint on nearby buildings, suggesting the damage was carried out carelessly. Police are now searching for those responsible.
Baresi spent his entire playing career with Milan and retired from football in 1997.
