Nigerian striker Paul Onuachu has been awarded the Turkish Süper Lig Goal of the Season after his stunning acrobatic effort for Trabzonspor against Fatih Karagümrük was voted the league’s best goal of the 2025/26 campaign.
The spectacular strike came during Trabzonspor’s 4-2 victory over Fatih Karagümrük in September, when the towering forward produced an extraordinary scissor-kick finish that left supporters and pundits in awe. The goal had already earned the league’s Goal of the Month award and has now been recognised as the standout effort of the entire season.
Onuachu beat strong competition from Marco Asensio of Fenerbahçe and Orkun Kökçü of Beşiktaş to claim the prestigious individual honour.
The award caps a remarkable debut season in Turkey for the Super Eagles forward following his move from Southampton last summer.
Onuachu finished the 2025/26 Süper Lig campaign as joint top scorer with 22 goals, sharing the Golden Boot award with Eldor Shomurodov of İstanbul Başakşehir.
The achievement saw the Nigerian become only the sixth player in Trabzonspor’s history to finish a league season as the division’s leading scorer, further cementing his place in the club’s history.
Across all competitions, Onuachu registered an impressive 26 goals and two assists in 43 appearances, establishing himself as one of the most influential players in Turkish football this season.
Trabzonspor also enjoyed team success, lifting the Turkish Cup for a record-extending 10th time after a 2-1 victory over Konyaspor in the final. Onuachu once again proved decisive, scoring both goals to inspire the Black Sea Storm to silverware and cap off a memorable campaign.
The Goal of the Season award serves as further recognition of a standout year for the Nigerian international, whose impact in Turkey has exceeded expectations and elevated his status among the league’s elite performers.
