Malta and Nigeria winger Paul Mbong has rejoined Floriana from Serbian side Cukaricki, signing a new deal with the Maltese Premier League club until June 2027. The 24-year-old right winger returns to the Greens after spending the second half of last season on loan at the club.
Mbong, born in Marsaskala and standing at 1.75m, re-establishes his ties with Floriana just weeks after his loan spell from Cukaricki came to an end. He originally moved to Serbia in 2025 on a free transfer from Birkirkara, but featured only briefly in the Super Liga before heading back to Malta on a temporary basis in February 2026.
During his time in Maltese football, Mbong has accumulated more than 100 Premier League appearances and has contributed goals and assists across league and cup competitions. He has also played in European competition qualifiers, scoring in UEFA Europa Conference League qualifying, underlining his experience beyond domestic football.
Mbong’s most notable honour to date is winning the Maltese FA Trophy with Birkirkara in the 2022-23 season, a campaign that helped establish him as a regular at senior level after progressing from Birkirkara’s youth ranks. His performances there paved the way for his move abroad and subsequent return to Floriana.
Primarily deployed as a right-sided attacker and preferring his right foot, Mbong offers Floriana a familiar option in wide areas as the club look to build on his previous spell. His contract with Floriana now runs to 30 June 2027, confirming his long-term commitment to the club following his switch from Cukaricki.
