Partey thanks Ghanaians after Black Stars’ World Cup exit

Black Stars midfielder Thomas Partey has thanked Ghanaians for their steadfast support following the national team’s elimination from the 2026 FIFA World Cup, insisting the squad will use the disappointment as motivation to improve and return stronger in future competitions.

In a message shared on social media after Ghana’s campaign came to an end, the experienced midfielder reflected on the team’s performance and acknowledged that the tournament had not concluded in the manner the players had hoped.

Despite believing the Black Stars were capable of achieving more at the global showpiece, Partey admitted the campaign ended in disappointment after Ghana’s exit in the Round of 32.

The midfielder nevertheless sought to reassure supporters that the experience would provide valuable lessons for the future, while expressing appreciation for the encouragement the team received throughout the tournament.

Representing Ghana at the World Cup, Partey said, remains one of the greatest privileges of his career, adding that he always gave everything whenever he stepped onto the pitch wearing the national colours.

He also reserved special praise for Ghana’s supporters, whose backing, he said, remained constant from the beginning of the competition until the team’s elimination.

According to Partey, the passion, belief and unwavering commitment shown by fans provided the players with encouragement throughout their World Cup journey.

He said the support from Ghanaians never went unnoticed and that the squad felt the backing of supporters at every stage of the tournament.

Looking back on Ghana’s exit, Partey acknowledged the unpredictable nature of football and accepted that painful moments are an unavoidable part of the sport.

While disappointed by the outcome, the 33-year-old stressed that setbacks also present opportunities for growth, insisting the Black Stars would use the experience to improve.

Partey assured supporters that the players would learn from the campaign, continue working hard and strive to deliver better performances in future international competitions.

His message came after Ghana’s World Cup journey was brought to an end by Colombia in the Round of 32.

The Black Stars were beaten 1-0 in a closely contested encounter, bringing an end to their hopes of progressing further in the tournament.

Although the defeat marked a disappointing conclusion to Ghana’s campaign, Partey’s response focused on optimism for the future rather than dwelling on the result.

The midfielder emphasised that the squad remains committed to building on the lessons learned from the tournament and using the experience as a platform for future improvement.
