Osimhen returns from injury to boost Galatasaray title bid

Galatasaray have received a significant boost ahead of their upcoming league fixture, with Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen named in the matchday squad for their away encounter against Gençlerbirliği.

The forward, who has been sidelined due to an arm injury sustained last month, has now recovered and is available for selection. His return comes at a crucial point in the season as Galatasaray continue their push to secure the Turkish Süper Lig title.

Osimhen has been a key figure for the league leaders, scoring 12 goals so far this campaign. His presence is expected to strengthen Galatasaray’s attacking options as they face a Gençlerbirliği side battling to avoid relegation.

Reports indicate that the Nigerian international has already communicated his readiness to start the match to head coach Okan Buruk. This development provides a timely boost for the team, who are looking to maintain momentum in a tightly contested title race.

Galatasaray’s position at the top of the table was reinforced following a slip by their closest rivals, Fenerbahçe, who were held to a 2–2 draw by Çaykur Rizespor. The result leaves Fenerbahçe in second place with 67 points from 30 matches, one point behind Galatasaray.

With such a narrow gap separating the two sides, every match is likely to prove decisive in determining the eventual champion. Osimhen’s return could therefore play a pivotal role in Galatasaray’s efforts to preserve their advantage.

The upcoming fixture presents its own challenges, however. Despite their struggles this season, Gençlerbirliği are fighting to secure their top-flight status and are expected to pose a difficult test on home soil.

For Galatasaray, the focus will be on capitalising on their rivals’ dropped points while maintaining consistency in their performances. The availability of a proven goal scorer such as Osimhen may provide the cutting edge required in what could be a closely fought encounter.

As the season approaches its final stages, the pressure continues to mount on both title contenders. Galatasaray will be hoping that the return of one of their most influential players can help guide them through a critical period and keep them firmly in control of the championship race.
