Orlando Pirates could hand Kabelo Dlamini an unexpected role in Saturday’s MTN8 final against Mamelodi Sundowns after the midfielder was seen taking part in training.
The 30-year-old has not played this season because of an injury, but images from the Pirates session have prompted supporters to suggest that the popular left-footer may be close to a return at Moses Mabhida Stadium.
Dlamini is a versatile player and a firm favourite among the club’s fans. However, it remains unclear whether he has recovered sufficiently to start the final or make an appearance from the bench.
There was more encouraging news for the defending champions as Thalente Mbatha also returned to full training. The 26-year-old midfielder has been sidelined with a knee injury for just shy of two months.
His return to the pitch has delighted Pirates supporters, with many expressing confidence that Mbatha could help guide the club towards an unprecedented fifth successive MTN8 title.
Orlando Pirates will face Sundowns on 10 October at Moses Mabhida, with kick-off scheduled for 18:00.
Strasbourg tracking Appollis
Oswin Appollis has attracted attention from French Ligue 1 club Strasbourg after a series of strong performances for Bafana.
The winger impressed during recent victories over Eritrea and Guinea, with his displays also prompting reported interest from Portuguese giants Porto.
Appollis was particularly influential in the 5-0 win against Eritrea, recording three assists. That achievement matched his three-assist performance against Congo in 2024.
The 25-year-old has also contributed two goals and two assists in seven Betway Premiership appearances for Orlando Pirates this term.
