Nigeria and Jordan play out 2-2 draw in fiery friendly

Nigeria were held to a 2-2 draw by Jordan in their final match of the March international break, in a game marked by goals, momentum swings and late drama.

The Super Eagles came into the match on the back of a 2-1 win over Iran in their opening friendly of the window, but were unable to maintain a perfect record.

Jordan struck first in the 17th minute through Mousa Al-Tamari, who curled in a brilliant free kick to give the hosts the early advantage.

Nigeria responded quickly. Just eight minutes later, Moses Simon brought the Super Eagles level, continuing his fine form after scoring in the previous game against Iran.

The momentum shifted further in Nigeria’s favour before the break when Emmanuel Fernandez found the net in the 45th minute to complete the turnaround and give the visitors a 2-1 lead at half-time.

However, the second half saw Jordan grow back into the contest. Their persistence paid off in the 77th minute when Mohammed Al-Daldah equalised, restoring parity and setting up a tense finish.

Jordan pushed for a winner late on and began to dominate possession, pinning Nigeria deeper in their own half as the game opened up.

The closing stages were further complicated for Nigeria when Alex Iwobi was sent off in second-half stoppage time after receiving a straight red card, leaving the Super Eagles to see out the final moments with ten men.

Despite the late pressure, Nigeria held on to secure a draw, ending their international window with one win and one draw.

The result offers mixed conclusions for the Super Eagles. While their attacking play showed promise, defensive lapses and discipline issues remain areas of concern as the team continues to build.
