Juventus have confirmed that Argentine winger Nico Gonzalez has signed a new contract keeping him at the club until 30 June 2030.
The 28-year-old has become an increasingly important member of Luciano Spalletti’s squad at the start of the 2026-2027 season, having returned to Turin after spending the previous campaign on loan at Atletico Madrid.
Gonzalez joined Juventus in the summer of 2024 but was allowed to leave on loan the following year after a disappointing first season in Italy. Injuries and changes to the coaching staff limited his impact during that campaign, prompting the club to sanction a temporary move.
His spell with Atletico Madrid was productive, but he did not make enough La Liga appearances to activate the mandatory purchase clause in his loan agreement. Reports during the summer transfer window said the Spanish club again tried to sign him permanently, although it wanted to pay significantly less than the €32m value of the clause.
With no agreement reached, Gonzalez returned to Juventus and resumed training in Turin. A series of injuries among the club’s attacking players, including star forward Kenan Yildiz, has since given him a greater role under Spalletti.
Gonzalez has played five matches in all competitions this season and has started Juventus’ last three Serie A games. The club has now rewarded his improved form and renewed importance with a contract extension.
In a statement published on its official website, Juventus said: “Nico Gonzalez signs a new contract! The Argentine player and Juventus have reached an agreement on a new contract until 30 June 2030.”
The club added: “The new contract confirms the desire to continue the journey that began in the summer of 2024, when Nico first arrived in Turin. Since then, the 28-year-old has made a total of 45 appearances and scored seven goals in the Juventus shirt, making a significant contribution at the start of this season too, with two goals in five matches so far.”
Juventus also highlighted Gonzalez’s tactical value, saying: “His style of play brings an element of surprise and attacking options as the Bianconeri face a busy season, while his experience and personality make him a valuable pillar for the team, both on and off the pitch.”
The announcement was made on 9 October 2026, with Juventus concluding its message: “Congratulations, Nico!”
