Nicky Butt urges Man Utd to go all-in for Osimhen

Nicky Butt believes Victor Osimhen would be the ideal marquee signing for Manchester United as they look to strengthen their attack.

The former United midfielder pointed to Osimhen’s physicality, pace and finishing ability as qualities that could transform the team’s frontline.

United have rotated several attacking options this season, including Benjamin Sesko and Joshua Zirkzee, while Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha have also been used in advanced roles. However, Butt believes Osimhen offers something different.

“I think he’d be the one,” Butt said. “You’d like to think that players from Turkish sides are gettable.”

Osimhen currently plays for Galatasaray, having joined from Napoli in July 2025. His contract in Istanbul runs until the end of the 2028-29 season.

Butt suggested United should focus on realistic targets rather than pursuing expensive deals that may prove difficult to complete.

“You’re wasting time on certain players that you’re not going to get if they cost £120 million,” he added.

The former midfielder highlighted Osimhen’s all-round attributes as key to his appeal.

“He’s powerful and quick; he can run in behind; he’s strong; he’s got a good touch and can score different types of goals; he’s good in the air.”

Osimhen has established himself as one of the most complete strikers in European football, combining athleticism with a consistent goal threat. His profile fits the type of forward United have lacked in recent seasons. A player capable of leading the line and stretching defenses.

As United continue to assess their attacking options ahead of the next transfer window, Butt’s comments add to the growing calls for the club to make a decisive move in the striker market.
