Neymar’s next move could revive Barcelona’s iconic MSN attack

Neymar is facing a decisive period in his career as his contract with Santos approaches its expiry on 31 December, with no agreement yet in place over whether he will remain at the Brazilian club.

The Brazil forward’s future has become increasingly uncertain, and Inter Miami has emerged as a potential destination that could shape the final stage of his career.

According to Spanish newspaper Marca, Inter Miami is among the clubs that could offer Neymar an alternative to continuing with Santos. A move to the Major League Soccer side would also raise the possibility of a reunion with Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez.

Neymar, Messi and Suarez formed Barcelona’s celebrated attacking trio between 2014 and 2017. The three forwards produced one of the most memorable attacking partnerships in modern football, becoming widely known as the MSN trio.

There is, however, no confirmed agreement between Neymar and Inter Miami. Neymar remains under contract with Santos and will ultimately decide whether he wants to stay, pursue another opportunity or consider ending his playing career.

Questions over his immediate future have intensified following an incident at Santos’ training centre. Brazilian website ge reported that Neymar arrived at the club’s facilities but stayed only a few minutes before leaving without permission.

He did not take part in the recovery session scheduled for the players who had started the previous match. The decision caused concern within Santos, although Neymar returned for the next training session and the club chose not to punish him.

The episode comes as Santos wait for clarity from their highest-profile player. Neymar has left open the possibility of continuing his career with the club, moving elsewhere or retiring, leaving the next step unresolved.

For Inter Miami, the presence of Messi and Suarez makes the prospect of bringing Neymar to the club particularly attractive. It would recreate the attacking combination that helped define Barcelona’s success during their time together in Spain.

At present, though, the potential reunion remains only a possibility. Neymar’s contract situation with Santos is still active, and no formal deal with Inter Miami has been confirmed.

The Brazilian forward therefore holds the key to the next stage of his career. Whether he remains at Santos, takes up a new challenge in the United States or decides to retire will become clearer before his current contract expires on 31 December.
