Newcastle complete five-year deal for Monaco midfielder Aladji Bamba

Newcastle United have signed highly rated French Under-20 international midfielder Aladji Bamba from AS Monaco on a five-year contract.

The 20-year-old, who is of Guinean descent and is currently on the shortlist for the prestigious Golden Boy award, becomes Newcastle’s fourth signing of the summer transfer window.

Bamba arrives to bolster Eddie Howe’s midfield options after completing his move from Monaco, where he had been regarded as one of the club’s most promising young players.

The Frenchman will wear the number 8 shirt for the Magpies as he begins his Premier League career.

Bamba follows Ewen Jaouen, Bazoumana Toure and Sean Steur in joining Newcastle during the current window, as the club continues to strengthen its squad ahead of the new season.
