Al-Nassr have decided to make Saudi Arabia goalkeeper Nawaf Al-Aqidi available for transfer during the current summer window, with negotiations over a move to Al-Fateh reportedly at an advanced stage.
The proposed deal would see Al-Nassr receive a transfer fee from Al-Fateh, along with goalkeeper Abdulhadi Al-Alwan and right-back Saeed Baatiyah in exchange for Al-Aqidi.
Talks between the two Saudi clubs are expected to be completed within the next few days, according to Saudi newspaper Okaz, before an official announcement is made.
Al-Fateh are already familiar with the 26-year-old goalkeeper, who spent the second half of the 2024-25 season on loan at the club. Al-Nassr are now prepared to approve a permanent departure after negotiations between the two sides progressed.
The report follows a period of uncertainty between Al-Nassr and Al-Aqidi, who has been seeking a move in order to play more regularly during the 2025-26 campaign.
Okaz said Al-Nassr had informed Al-Aqidi’s agent that the club did not intend to renew the goalkeeper’s contract. The message was delivered during a meeting between the two parties at the team’s training camp in Lisbon, Portugal.
Al-Aqidi began last season as Al-Nassr’s first-choice goalkeeper but lost his place after making a number of mistakes midway through the campaign. His errors in matches against Al-Qadsiah and Al-Hilal in the Roshn Saudi League were among the incidents that contributed to his return to the substitutes’ bench.
The goalkeeper has also lost his position in the Saudi Arabia national team. He made mistakes during a friendly against Egypt in March, after which experienced goalkeeper Mohammed Al-Owais was selected to play for the national side at the 2026 World Cup instead.
Al-Aqidi is a product of the Al-Nassr academy and was promoted to the first team in 2019. However, he has not managed to establish himself as the club’s regular starter.
He moved on loan to Al-Tai in 2022 before joining Al-Fateh temporarily in 2025. The proposed transfer would therefore bring a permanent end to his time with Al-Nassr, subject to the final agreement between the clubs.
Al-Nassr’s decision marks a significant change in the situation of a goalkeeper who had initially been trusted as the team’s number one last season. With Al-Fateh now pursuing a permanent deal, the two clubs are close to reaching an agreement involving players as well as a financial payment.
