Napoli have ended all speculation over Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa’s future by activating a contract option that ties the midfielder to the club until June 2028 and ruling out a summer departure.
The 30-year-old Cameroon international had attracted interest from several clubs ahead of the upcoming transfer window, with his previous deal approaching a key stage and his situation being closely tracked by scouts.
However, Napoli sporting director Giovanni Manna has made clear that the Serie A side have no intention of letting Zambo Anguissa leave. Speaking to Fabrizio Romano, Manna confirmed that the club have exercised a clause to extend the player’s stay and underlined their complete faith in him.
By triggering that option, Napoli have secured the long-term future of a player who has become a mainstay in their midfield since arriving from Fulham in 2021. Zambo Anguissa is now committed to the Partenopei for another four years.
Key man in Napoli midfield
Since his move from the Premier League three years ago, Zambo Anguissa has developed into one of the standout central midfielders in Serie A. He is closing in on 200 appearances for Napoli in all competitions, underlining his status as a regular fixture in the side across multiple seasons.
The decision to extend his contract comes despite continued monitoring from Turkish clubs Besiktas and Galatasaray, who remain interested in the player ahead of the summer market. For Napoli, though, maintaining stability in the squad is described as the clear priority.
Zambo Anguissa, a former Olympique de Marseille player and a product of Cameroonian football in Yaounde, has seen his valuation placed at around €15m. That figure reflects both his experience at the top level and his importance to Napoli’s recent campaigns.
Last season and current terms
In the most recent season, Zambo Anguissa made 22 appearances in all competitions for Napoli. Over that campaign he scored four goals and provided two assists, contributing in both defensive and attacking phases from midfield.
His current salary in Italy stands at €3,460,000 per year, which corresponds to 2,249,000,000 CFA francs. Those terms will continue under the extended agreement, reinforcing his position as one of the better-remunerated players in the squad.
