Negotiations between Napoli and Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa have hit a significant obstacle, with the two sides unable to agree on the Cameroon midfielder’s proposed wages.
According to information from Ekrem Konur, Anguissa is seeking almost 6 million euros a year. That figure is around 2.4 million euros higher than the salary currently being considered by Napoli, leaving the club and player some way apart in discussions over a contract extension.
The impasse has prevented talks from making further progress and could create uncertainty over the 30-year-old’s future at the Italian club.
Anguissa is under contract with Napoli until 2027. His market value is estimated at 15 million euros by Transfermarkt, while his current annual salary in Italy is 3,460,000 euros, equivalent to 2,249,000,000 FCFA.
If the two parties fail to reach an agreement, the midfielder could leave Napoli as a free agent in the summer of 2027, when his existing deal expires.
That possibility is already attracting interest elsewhere. Inter Milan are monitoring the situation closely and could consider making a move if Anguissa becomes available without a transfer fee at the end of his contract.
The Cameroon international has been an important part of Napoli’s midfield, but the difference between his wage request and the club’s proposal has placed the renewal negotiations on hold.
Napoli’s next fixture will be against Frosinone in the sixth round of the Italian championship.
