Napoli manager Massimiliano Allegri has confirmed the club’s 23-man List A squad for the 2026-27 Champions League league phase, with returning loanees Noa Lang and Lorenzo Lucca included alongside summer arrivals Costantino Favasuli and Benoit Badiashile.
All clubs involved in UEFA competitions this season were required to submit their league-phase squads by the end of Wednesday, 2 September. That deadline came one day after the summer transfer window closed in most European countries.
Clubs can register a maximum of 25 players on List A. At least two of those players must be goalkeepers, while eight must qualify as locally trained players.
A locally trained player is someone who spent at least three uninterrupted years based in Italy between the ages of 15 and 21.
Napoli have selected seven locally trained players: goalkeeper Alex Meret, defender Giovanni Di Lorenzo, Favasuli and Leonardo Spinazzola, midfielder Antonio Vergara, goalkeeper Nikita Contini and forward Lucca.
Because they have not reached the required quota of eight locally trained players, Napoli’s permitted List A squad size has been reduced from 25 to 23 players. Inter have been affected by the same regulation in their own squad submission.
Napoli have not yet officially announced the players registered on their List B. That list can contain an unlimited number of players and is generally used for members of a club’s youth system.
To qualify for List B, a player must have been born on or after 1 January 2005 and must have spent at least two uninterrupted years with the club.
Napoli’s confirmed List A squad is:
Goalkeepers: Alex Meret, Vanja Milinkovic-Savic, Nikita Contini.
Defenders: Benoit Badiashile, Sam Beukema, Giovanni Di Lorenzo, Costantino Favasuli, Rafa Marin, Mathias Olivera, Amir Rrahmani, Leonardo Spinazzola.
Midfielders: Kevin De Bruyne, Billy Gilmour, Stanislav Lobotka, Scott McTominay, Antonio Vergara, Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa.
Forwards: David Neres, Alisson Santos, Rasmus Hojlund, Noa Lang, Lorenzo Lucca, Matteo Politano.
The squad includes a blend of established Napoli players, new signings and footballers returning from loan spells. Badiashile and Favasuli are among the summer additions named by Allegri, while Lang and Lucca have returned to the club after temporary moves away.
Napoli will therefore begin their Champions League campaign with a slightly smaller List A group than the maximum permitted under UEFA regulations. Their final squad numbers could be expanded by the inclusion of eligible young players on List B, although those names have not been confirmed officially.
