Musiala suffers worrying on-field collapse in Bayern Munich friendly win

Jamal Musiala caused concern after briefly losing consciousness during the closing stages of Bayern Munich’s 3-1 friendly victory over RB Leipzig on Saturday, with new team-mate Ismael Saibari among the first to react and call for medical assistance.

The Germany international went down inside the penalty area and appeared to be unconscious for a short period. Saibari immediately ran towards him before signalling to the Bayern Munich medical staff to come on to the pitch.

Musiala received treatment and was eventually able to walk off the field unaided. However, the 22-year-old looked visibly affected by the incident as he left the game.

He was replaced by young Senegalese forward Bara Ndiaye in the 86th minute.

The incident came only a few minutes after Musiala had scored Bayern’s third goal in the 81st minute. Saibari provided the assist, marking his first appearance for the Bavarian club since joining from Dutch side PSV Eindhoven during the summer.

The Morocco international had made an encouraging start to his Bayern Munich career, setting up Musiala to complete the scoring in a match played at the Allianz Arena in Munich.

Luis Diaz opened the scoring for Bayern before RB Leipzig levelled. Nathaniel Brown then restored the hosts’ advantage, with Musiala adding the third goal to secure a 3-1 win.

Bayern Munich are using the fixture as part of their preparations for the German Super Cup against Borussia Dortmund next Saturday. They will then begin their Bundesliga campaign against Stuttgart on 28 August.

Musiala has become one of Bayern’s most important attacking players since breaking into the first team, while Saibari’s involvement provided one of the notable positives for the club in its final preparations before competitive action begins.

The immediate focus, however, was on Musiala’s condition after the unsettling moment late in the match. He was able to leave the pitch on his feet after receiving attention from the medical team, with no further details about the incident provided in the source report.
