Senegal international goalkeeper Mory Diaw is close to completing a move to Lille after the Ligue 1 club identified him as their preferred option to strengthen their goalkeeping department.
According to L’Équipe, negotiations between Lille and Le Havre have reached an advanced stage, with an agreement reportedly close. The 33-year-old is expected to undergo his medical examination before finalising his move to the northern French club.
Diaw has been a key figure for Le Havre, particularly during the 2025-26 Ligue 1 season, when he played a major role in helping the club maintain its top-flight status.
The experienced goalkeeper started 30 league matches, recorded seven clean sheets and conceded 41 goals during the campaign. His performances made him one of Le Havre’s most important players, despite increased competition for the position at the club.
The former Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper still has a contract with Le Havre until 2027, but his situation has changed as he considers the next stage of his career.
A move to Lille would represent another important chapter for Diaw, who has built significant experience in French football and internationally.
The Senegalese goalkeeper has earned nine caps for the Teranga Lions and was part of Senegal’s squad during their 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign, further strengthening his reputation as one of Africa’s more experienced goalkeepers.
Lille’s ambition was reportedly a major factor in convincing Diaw to consider the transfer. The club finished third in Ligue 1 last season, securing qualification for the next UEFA Champions League campaign.
The opportunity to compete in Europe’s elite club competition is seen as an attractive proposition for Diaw, who has already gained years of professional experience and is looking for a new challenge.
For Lille, the signing would provide greater competition in goal, with the club aiming to have two capable options competing for the starting position.
The move is expected to be completed once Diaw passes his medical tests. After the examination, the Senegal international will join his new teammates following the conclusion of Lille’s ongoing training camp.
Diaw’s potential arrival continues Lille’s preparations for a demanding season that will combine domestic competition with Champions League football.
For Senegal, the transfer would also represent another positive development for one of their senior national team figures, as Diaw continues his career at a club competing on both the French and European stages.
With the final formalities expected soon, Diaw appears set to begin a new chapter at Lille after an impressive spell at Le Havre.
